The exhibition presents the findings of many years of research by the Villa Tugendhat Study and Documentation Centre, which has been examining individual fragments and personal testimonies documenting the fate of this family home, the use of which radically changed in the second half of the twentieth century. After World War II, the villa was home to a dance school and a rehabilitation centre, was used by the city for official purposes (with hotel-style accommodations), and finally, after the Velvet Revolution, was opened to the public as a museum. The mostly pictorial exhibition of period photographs will be augmented by original examples of the villa’s furnishings and equipment from the 1980s usually stored in the depository of Brno City Museum.
The exhibition should be presented as a part of the 90th anniversary celebrations in 2020, since it could not be seen in the planned term (because of corona virus pandemic), we decided to extend the duration of the exhibition.

Exhibitions on the Tugendhat Villa’s technical floor are open from 21 November to 27 December 2020 within the villa’s opening hours without prior reservation.

The exhibition was prepared by the Tugendhat Study and Documentation Centre and has been realized with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. The exhibition is part of the Villa Tugendhat 90 celebrations held under the auspices of the Czech UNESCO Commission.
