MEETING OF THE CENTROPE POLITICAL BOARD IN BRNO

On Tuesday, 23 September 2014, a CENTROPE political summit was held at which discussions within the Political Board concerning the further development of this Central European Region took place at Tugendhat Villa. Since 2003, CENTROPE has united 16 partners, cities and regions from four countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. The members from the Czech Republic include the South Moravian Region and the city of Brno; the Vysočina Region has the status of an observer. The meeting brought together the leading political representatives from Vienna (Mayor and Landeshauptmann Dr. Michael Häupl), Bratislava (Mayor Dr. Milan Ftáčnik) and high political representatives from Lower Austria, Burgenland, the Bratislava and Trnava Self-Governing Regions, the capital city of Lower Austria, St. Pölten, and the Hungarian administrative counties of Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron and was headed by Brno Mayor Bc. Roman Onderka, MBA, and President of the South Moravian Region, JUDr. Michal Hašek. 

Participants at the political summit held in Brno assessed the activities of the 2014 Czech presidency and the Report on the Fulfilment of the CENTROPE Strategy 2013+, a document that defines the objectives for building a strong and competitive region in the heart of Europe. The main focus is on four areas: infrastructure, culture and tourism, knowledge region and human capital.
