On Wednesday, 5 April 2017, Villa Tugendhat welcomed important Czech film director Václav Vorlíček with his daughter, architect Katřina Hořavová.
Václav Vorlíček has gained acclaim with a parody of comic series titled “Who Wants to Kill Jessie?” from 1966, with Olga Schoberová and Jiří Sovák with comic illustrations by Kája Saudek. The film won main prizes at international film festivals in Locarno and Trieste. It was followed by a successful parody of James Bond-style spy films “The End of Agent W4C By Mr. Foustka’s Dog” (1967).
The most famous and popular films directed by Václav Vorlíček, created in tandem with script author Miloš Macourek include crazy comedy “Sir, You Are a Widow!” (1970), “How to Drown Dr. Mráček or the End of Kelpies in Bohemia” (1974) or “How About Some Spinach” (1977). He is also famous for his fairy tale films “Three Nuts for Cinderella” (1973), “How to Wake Princesses” (1977), “The Prince and the Evening Star” (1978) and the fairy-tale comedy “The Girl on the Broomstick” (1971). The creative duo Vorlíček – Macourek is also signed under the successful fairy-tale television series “Arabela” (1980), “Flying Čestmír” (1983) and “Hamster in a Nightgown” (1987).
